The Oslo, Norway-based Aker BioMarine Antarctic AS, a supplier of krill-derived omega-3 products, has received product approval for ‘Superba krill oil’ from Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
‘Superba krill oil’ is a natural source of omega-3 fatty acids such as DHA and EPA and astaxanthin.
It is the first krill oil to obtain product approval by the country’s apex food regulator.
The product has been evaluated in many clinical studies; hence this new product approval would enable Indian consumers to benefit from omega-3 fatty acids in the phospholipid form.
Omega-3 phospholipids are more efficiently incorporated into the cell membranes. Therefore, it supports heart, brain and joint health.
