Heart Health – Do’s and Don’ts



Studies have found that having a healthy diet can reverse and prevent heart diseases. Dr Caldwell Esselstyn Jr, author of Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease, says that plant-based nutrition provides us a way to escape the coronary artery disease.

There are certain foods which we can eat to protect our heart health. On the other hand, there are certain foods which we should either avoid or try to reduce its consumption.

Below is a list which shows what foods to be taken and what to be avoided to have healthy heart.


  • Meat
  • Cheese
  • Milk
  • Butter
  • Ice cream
  • Eggs
  • Fried foods
  • Oils and
  • margarine

These are some of the foods that lead to coronary disease.

Eat healthy foods like:

  • Leafy green vegetables
  • Root vegetables
  • Vegetables that are red, green, purple, orange and yellow
  • Nuts
  • Legumes such as beans, peas, lentils
  • Whole grains and their products such as bread and pasta without fat
  • Fruits

These will help in maintaining a good heart health and prevent coronary artery disease.
